A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO AUTODESK SKETCHBOOK PRO
Sketchbook Pro is a raster graphics software app intended for expressive drawing and concept sketching also for making animations. It was introduced back on September 17, 2009, and is widely used by graphic designers, hobbyists, and artists alike. Following a stable mobile release back on May 16, 2016- with easy to use, intuitive, and user-friendly tools for every type and every skill level of any artist. Sketchbook is regarded to be one of the most popular apps and drawing programs most artists should know and have. Recently, the company behind the program finally decided to go independent and fully develop the program to further better its usage, features, design, and its overall structure in future releases.
WHY AUTODESK SKETCHBOOK IS A MUST-HAVE FOR GRAPHIC DESIGNERS AND ARTISTS
Speaking from years of experience with this app- Sketchbook, with all the glory and praise it gets, is actually valid. It is a very easy-to-use program that can fit any other's workflow, style, skill, technique, and many more. It was an app designed to freely take on and embrace the creative medium of digital graphics and art- aspiring to create a program that would make art an accessible medium to everyone, no matter who they were. As a beginner artist since 2014- it took me a while to find a program that I could be accustomed to and be easily managed to my liking. Luckily- the program was advertised to me on the web and I immediately fell in love with it. Since then- I have been using it to create and draw my artwork.
Not only has the program been used in today's animation and art industries, but because of its user-friendly interface and features, it's also been used at art schools or classes in general, as the free version offers even the basic but vital tools to get the job done. The sleek, clean interface of the program and app (if you're using the mobile version) contrasted with its dozens of features, it is every artist's dream come true.
FEATURES AND USES
Extensive and powerful tools that might be able to rival most drawing applications and programs. It has every artist's need from basic photo editing features, to realistically ported over traditional brushes, effects, and textures to liven and enhance the artwork's output to a whole new level.
One of its famous features is the Copic Library, which houses a variety of pre-set and pre-defined color swatches for your convenience and enjoyment. It's also paired and used with the Copic Blender brushes- giving artwork the traditional Copic look, even in the digital format. Although it is primarily used as the all-in-one color swatch sets for the program, you can also customize the sets o your liking and preference!
You also have access to the special Sketchbook Extras menu! Which features a variety of custom-made digital brushes, textures, effects, and more from different artists! As Sketchbook can also be used to create and customize your own tools- the company had decided to utilize this and created a feature that would involve their communities and users engaging with one another through sharing. You can download and use free pre-custom brushes when you visit the site or tap the Sketchbook Extras Panel.
Pro Users have access to Sketchbook's Flipbook feature, which also servers as one of the program's first ideals when it was being developed early on- was to have animating capabilities that were simple and easy to use from the get-go. Although there is an iteration of the Flipbook called Sketchbook Motion, which offers the same features as the former program- but more developed and enhanced, providing a full-on complete animation experience from top to bottom.
I want to feature some artwork that I did with the program- and it's honestly one of the best and most powerful programs that I can use on the go anytime, anywhere. And it's much easier to use!
And that concludes our post! I also have a video discussing a brief tour of the program itself. Come take a look!
